Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative purchased 14 FV432 Mark 2 armored personnel carriers with spare parts worth UAH 53 million for the 3rd Assault Brigade.
According to a press release on Tuesday, the FV432/434 Mark 2 armored personnel carrier is a British tracked armored personnel carrier designed to transport troops. It can carry up to 12 people, its steel armor provides protection against small arms and shrapnel, has a top speed of up to 52 km/h, and can travel up to 480 km on one tank of fuel.
It is also specified that Steel Front provided funds for their purchase in Britain: 12 FV432 vehicles and two FV434 repair and recovery vehicles.
"We found these armored personnel carriers in Great Britain and spent more than six months delivering them to Ukraine. The guys have long been asking for armored tracked vehicles that allow them to save lives in different parts of the front," head of the project office of the general director of the Metinvest group, representative of Steel Front Oleksandr Vodoviz said.
Thanks to its compact size and tracked chassis, the FV432 Mark 2 can move across difficult terrain, so it is used for various tasks.
"Their cross-country ability is much better than that of wheeled vehicles. Therefore, it saves the lives of the guys who are currently performing their combat missions. We are additionally re-equipping the internal navigation and communication systems so that the guys can better cooperate with each other on the battlefield," soldier of the 3rd assault brigade Amper said.
According to the reference, the FV432 Mark 2 was used by the British armed forces in various conflicts, including the Gulf War (1990-1991), operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
