Avrora chain plans to acquire West Gate Logistic near Kyiv from Dragon Capital
Vyhidna Pokupka LLC (Opishnia, Poltava region), the largest Ukrainian chain of stores in the one dollar store format Avrora, may acquire West Gate Logistic LLC (Stoyanka village, Kyiv region) – one of the largest warehouse complexes near Kyiv with an area of about 97,000 square meters under the control of Dragon Capital, which was almost completely destroyed by Russian troops in 2022 and partially restored.
According to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU), it granted permission to Vyhidna Pokupka to acquire the entire property complex belonging to West Gate Logistic.
Avrora was founded in 2011 by Lev Zhidenko, Taras Panasenko and Lesia Klymenko. The head office is located in Poltava. Today, the chain has more than 1,400 stores in Ukraine and 25 in Romania.
According to Opendatabot, the owner of Vyhidna Pokupka LLC developing the chain is Cypriot-based Avroretail Investments Limited, its beneficiary is Zhidenko. The Cypriot company is also the owner of Prior Development LLC, Seven A LLC, Promyslova 9 LLC and Da LLC.
Before the full-scale Russian aggression, West Gate Logistic was a Class A logistics center with a total area of about 97,000 square meters located on the international highway E40 at 21 km of the Zhytomyr highway. It was built in 2008 and consisted of two buildings, including offices, warehouses, cold rooms and mezzanine spaces. In August 2016, Dragon Capital received permission from the AMCU to purchase East Gate Logistic and West Gate Logistic, which manage the eponymous Class A warehouse complexes, from the development company GLD Invest Group (Vienna, Austria).
Three months after the expulsion of Russian troops from Kyiv, it was possible to repair and resume work on the facade building with an area of about 7,700 square meters. Its tenants were Nova Poshta and Watsons Ukraine.
Currently, West Gate Logistic LLC is owned by New Ukraine PE Holding (NUPEH), part of the Dragon Capital group of companies, the main shareholder of which is Dragon Capital New Ukraine Fund direct investment fund, and the beneficiary is founder and head of Dragon Capital Tomas Fiala.
