MODUS X Has Repelled Nearly 140 Million Cyberattack Attempts Since the Start of the Full-Scale War – CEO
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, IT company MODUS X has successfully repelled over 137.5 million cyberattack attempts, averaging 125,000 attempts per day throughout this period, according to the company's CEO, Dmytro Osyka.
“We have strengthened our security center team, which now operates 24/7. We face millions of attacks, ranging from basic DDoS attacks and simple attempts to take down a website to more sophisticated threats aimed at stealing passwords and login credentials to cause damage. For example, since the start of the full-scale war, we have managed to repel over 137.5 million cyberattack attempts, meaning that on average, there have been 125,000 attack attempts per day during this period," Osyka stated in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, every business, especially under the current conditions, must ensure at least some level of cybersecurity protection.
He also noted that demand for cybersecurity has shifted since the beginning of the war, as many companies, seeing the number of breaches in sectors such as telecommunications, now understand the severe consequences of cyberattacks. However, the adoption of cybersecurity technologies still depends on a company’s capabilities and maturity. He explained that businesses always weigh the level of risk against the required investment before making a decision.
"But while advanced cyber protection might still seem like ‘space technology’ to many today, I believe that in a year or two, it will become just another routine factor – business as usual," Osyka predicted.
Cyberattacks on DTEK: No Successful Breaches, but Serious Incidents Occurred
When asked whether there had been any successful hacker attacks on DTEK, the CEO of MODUS X responded:
"Successful? No, that hasn’t happened. But serious incidents? Absolutely. There were attacks so intense that we had to defend against them for an entire month. You quickly realize who you're up against. If professionals are behind the attack, you have to be prepared to operate 24/7. That’s precisely why, since the beginning of the war, we transitioned to a round-the-clock cybersecurity monitoring approach. Our teams are constantly on alert, and a key factor in our rapid response is the AI-driven technology we use for threat analysis."
MODUS X: Expanding Digitalization & Entering European Markets
In the same interview, Dmytro Osyka stated that the average digitalization project at MODUS X costs between UAH 5-8 million, which is sufficient to develop essential digital infrastructure.
MODUS X was founded in late 2022, emerging as an independent entity from the DTEK energy holding following the completion of the three-year "Modus" digital transformation program for DTEK Group. The company was established to enhance its market competitiveness both in Ukraine and internationally.
While DTEK remains the owner of MODUS X, the company now focuses on expanding its client base beyond the energy holding, targeting external clients in Ukraine and abroad. MODUS X is actively preparing to enter the European market, with Poland as its primary focus due to the presence of DTEK as a key client. However, the company is also exploring expansion into other markets, including the U.S.
Growing Client Base & Market Influence
Since March 2024, MODUS X has acquired 14 new clients outside of the DTEK Group, including major Ukrainian businesses in: Retail, Banking, Automotive distribution, Agriculture, Food production.
In the energy sector, MODUS X now holds at least a 25% share as an IT service provider. The company currently employs 700 professionals.
CEO Dmytro Osyka emphasized that MODUS X has already completed over 400 projects, primarily for DTEK Group, many of which—especially those related to DTEK Energy and renewable energy sources (RES)—can be adapted for other businesses.
