Ukraine to restore 3.2 GW of damaged energy facilities by year end – Energy Minister

Ukraine must repair 3.2 GW of destroyed and damaged energy facilities and infrastructure by the end of 2025, most of which has already been restored, Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk said.
"We have 3.2 GW of capacity to repair by the end of 2025. Most of it has already been repaired, and we must complete everything by the end of the year," she said during the presentation of the draft Government Action Program in Kyiv on Monday.
Hrynchuk also stressed that great attention is being paid to protecting energy facilities, including strengthening air defense, and a number of stakeholders have been involved in this work.
According to her, maximum repair and restoration of energy facilities, as well as the accumulation of natural gas and coal, the development of distributed generation, as well as the protection of the energy sector, are among the main areas of preparation for the 2025/2026 heating season.
As reported, during the presentation of the draft Government Action Program in Kyiv on Monday, the Minister of Energy announced that Ukraine should accumulate at least 13.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas by the beginning of the heating season. She also noted that during 2025, 600 MW of distributed generation – gas and renewable – has already been commissioned, and by the end of the year, approximately 800 MW are expected: 350 MW in the state sector and approximately 500 MW in the private sector.
