From June 2024 to October 1, 2025, Ukrainian banks financed business projects aimed at developing 1.142 GW of new generation capacity, according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). In August alone, the increase amounted to 11.3%, or 116 MW.

As the NBU specified, as of October 1, 2025, banks had also financed energy storage and heat generation projects totaling 416 MW, up 3.5%, or 14 MW, from August.

Overall, under the memorandum of commitment to finance the restoration of energy infrastructure damaged by Russia's massive attacks, banks have funded projects in 21 regions of Ukraine since June 2024, with a total value of UAH 30.1 billion. These include over 2,000 business loans worth UAH 28.3 billion and more than 11,000 consumer loans totaling UAH 1.8 billion.

Based on previously published data, total financing in September increased by 11.1%, or UAH 3 billion, including an 11% rise (UAH 2.8 billion) in business loans and a 12.5% rise (UAH 0.2 billion) in consumer loans.

As of October 1, the gross portfolio of "energy" loans to legal entities, including repaid loans, reached UAH 19.4 billion, up 8.4%, or UAH 1.5 billion, compared to September 1. The loan portfolio for individuals grew by 7.7%, from UAH 1.3 billion to UAH 1.4 billion.

As reported earlier, to stimulate bank lending to the energy sector, the NBU revised credit risk assessment requirements and increased the collateral value coefficients for energy equipment.

On June 26, 2024, 17 of Ukraine's largest banks signed a memorandum on preferential lending for projects to restore energy infrastructure.
