Gas import volume in 2025 will amount to 6 bln cubic meters – Naftogaz commercial director

Natural gas imports in 2025 will amount to almost 6 billion cubic meters, according to Naftogaz Group Commercial Director Serhiy Fedorenko.

"Considering the intensity of the impact on domestic infrastructure, it would be difficult to survive without natural gas imports. In 2025, import volumes will reach almost 6 billion cubic meters, which will allow for the heating season. We're going through the first two months in a highly controlled manner and are doing everything we can to ensure that continues," Fedorenko said at a press conference at Ukrinform on Wednesday.

According to him, Naftogaz has covered most of its financing needs for gas imports and is "preparing for the first quarter of 2026 and for the medium term, how we will operate."

"The main focus is on diversifying supply sources, primarily American LNG. By the end of this year, there will be 600 million cubic meters of LNG from the USA, with another 300 million cubic meters contracted for the first quarter," Fedorenko noted.

He emphasized that 2025 was the most difficult year for the group in terms of the intensity of losses and Russian strikes on targets.

"There have been approximately 24 combined attacks on the group's facilities this year. More than 2,000 missiles and drones have attacked the facilities, including one that was attacked by 64 Shahed missiles in the last two days," Fedorenko described the situation.

As he noted, the group is also focusing on preparing backup equipment for recovery.
