Zelenskyy on military losses today: Changes not positive, figure not getting smaller

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking about losses among the Ukrainian military at the front, said that he sees daily changes in the number of dead and they are not getting smaller.

"I know how many people we lose every day. This is a very important issue for me. And I see, unfortunately, these changes every day. And they are not in a positive direction. It's not getting smaller," the president said in an interview with the BBC, full a version of which was published on Sunday.

At the same time, the president refused to name the exact number of losses, justifying this by the fact that "we do not want the Russians to know all the information."

Answering the question of how long Ukraine could continue to sustain such losses, Zelenskyy replied that "it depends, first of all, on the morale of the military, as well as on the morale of the people who work so that the military has money and salaries. And it depends on unity between military and civilians in Ukraine."

The head of state also emphasized that everything is being done to minimize these losses.

"Therefore, the difference between the killed and wounded between us and the Russians is very large. If we have one killed for every 6-8 wounded, then they have every third, every second. This suggests that they are not fighting for the survival of their people, they leave them on the battlefield," he said.

As reported, in February the President of Ukraine announced 31,000 irretrievable losses among the military.
