Suspect in Farion's murder detained without bail
Halytsky District Court of Lviv ruled to place 18-year-old Viacheslav Zinchenko, a suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion, in custody for two months without the possibility of posting bail.
As reported by Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, this decision was made at a hearing on Friday by Judge Oleh Yurkiv after considering the petition of the state prosecution. "Place Viacheslav Zinchenko in custody for 60 days until September 22 without the possibility of posting bail," the judge read out the ruling.
At the same time, he said the parties can appeal the court's decision within the time limits established by law.
As reported, Zinchenko was detained by police officers on Thursday, July 25, in Dnipro. On Friday, he was informed of suspicion of committing premeditated murder.
On Friday, during a briefing in Lviv, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko said that the investigation has strong evidence of the suspect's involvement in the crime. According to him, the suspect arrived in Lviv on July 9, rented three apartments, and bought the clothes in which Farion was watching the house on the Internet and sent them to himself by mail. After committing the crime, he left Lviv on July 21.
The minister also said the weapon used to commit the murder has not yet been found and the investigation believes that it is a converted 9 mm sports pistol.
