Claims of URCS supplying varicose vein medications to people over 45 are fake
Information circulating about the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) allegedly providing varicose vein medications to people over the age of 45 is false.
"Attention! There is a fake news story spreading that people aged 45+ with varicose veins can receive help from the Red Cross in the form of medication. This is a scam! The Ukrainian Red Cross Society does not distribute varicose vein medications!" the URCS stated on Facebook.
In the circulated video, scammers used artificial intelligence and footage from other Ukrainian Red Cross Society humanitarian aid programs.
"The video is accompanied by audio with text that has nothing to do with the activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society or the people supposedly speaking in the video... In the video, scammers ask viewers to follow a link and provide personal information," the URCS said.
Details on all current programs and activities of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society can be found on the official website – https://redcross.org.ua/.
