Reports about Germany allegedly stopping military aid to Kyiv incorrect – MFA of Ukraine

Reports about Germany allegedly stopping military aid to Ukraine are incorrect, at present, as last year, the government has planned a certain amount of aid to Kyiv in the draft budget, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine notes.

"Reports that Germany is allegedly stopping military aid to Ukraine are incorrect. This is the same manipulation as the previous reports about halving the allowance for next year," the department said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.

The MFA noted that Germany is undergoing a budget process, which Ukraine is closely monitoring, and it is expected that the budget will be approved in November and only then will the level of support for Ukraine for next year be known.

"Now, as last year, the government has planned a certain amount of aid to Ukraine in the draft budget. It is similar to what was planned last year at this stage of the budget process. Last year, this amount increased at the parliamentary stage of adopting the budget in the fall," the department explained.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Ukraine continues to work with German partners to maintain and strengthen support for Ukraine.

"We emphasize that every euro invested in strengthening the defense capability of our state is a contribution to the security of all of Europe amid Russian aggression. We are grateful to Germany, which remains the leader among European countries in terms of the volume of support for Ukraine," the commentary says.

The Foreign Ministry also added that German aid had already saved thousands of lives in Ukraine and is strategically important for protecting lives in the future.

"We expect that the German government will find a way to provide additional funding for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces this year as well. We also hope for a quick and non-bureaucratic implementation of the decision of the G7 leaders to use the income from frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine. In our opinion, these funds should not replace, but rather supplement ongoing European and German aid," the department said.

Separately, the Foreign Ministry noted that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba constantly emphasizes that "military aid to Ukraine is an investment in the security of every European, and its increase is an insurance guarantee of peace in Europe for the next decade."
