Okhmatdyt – Is Healthy Childhood expecting legal mechanism for targeted transfer of funds for hospital restoration
The Charitable Foundation Okhmatdyt – Is Healthy Childhood is waiting for a legal mechanism for making a targeted transfer of funds for the restoration of the Okhmatdyt National Specialized Children's Hospital, which was damaged by a Russian missile on July 8, 2024.
"I believe answers to all issues of concern will be found. We will get a legal mechanism for making a targeted transfer of funds for the restoration of the Okhmatdyt hospital and launch it [the restoration] as soon as possible," the head of the charitable foundation, Yevhen Vember, said on Facebook Monday.
He also said that the foundation has sent a letter to both the hospital and the Health Ministry of Ukraine to guarantee its readiness to transfer the raised funds.
The foundation is also negotiating a possibility of auditing the foundation's operations by an independent company, Vember said.
As reported, on August 16, Director General of Okhmatdyt Volodymyr Zhovnir said that the Charitable Foundation Okhmatdyt – is Healthy Childhood, which raised funds for the restoration of the Okhmatdyt National Specialized Children's Hospital after the July 8 missile strike, is not planning to transfer the money to the hospital's accounts.
Meanwhile, the Charitable Foundation Okhmatdyt – is Healthy Childhood said in its official statement that all the funds raised for the restoration of Okhmatdyt will remain on its accounts. Representatives of the foundation also asked the hospital to provide legal grounds for making transfers to the treasury accounts without any indicated purpose.
According to the Health Ministry, the amount of funds raised for the restoration of Okhmatdyt exceeded UAH 1.6 billion, including UAH 400 million in equipment. In particular, UAH 312 million was transferred directly to the account of the Okhmatdyt hospital, UAH 379 million – to the account of Omkhatdyt – Is Healthy Childhood, more than UAH 320 million were raised by the UNITED24 platform and monobank, which transferred the funds to the Health Ministry's account in the National Bank, $11.2 million was allocated by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation for the purchase of a full list of damaged equipment in the new building of Okhmatdyt (the funds will be received in the form of equipment), $1 million will come from the government of Lithuania, and UAH 100 million was allocated by the government of Ukraine.
