Today, there are six rehabilitation centers for veterans operating in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but innovative technical equipment is needed, as well as training of rehabilitation specialists, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko said.

"It is not enough to build a rehabilitation center. There are currently six of them operating in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, innovative and technical equipment is needed, and the most important thing that we have encountered and are still encountering today is the selection and training of rehabilitation specialists," Klymenko said at the seventh Annual International Veterans Forum "Ukraine. Veterans. Unity" in Kyiv on Thursday.

According to the minister, international partners are helping to train rehabilitation specialists.

Among the methods used to rehabilitate veterans are occupational therapy and canistherapy: ten dogs are trained to bring people out of a stupor when they are admitted to a medical facility.

Hippotherapy is also used: "our partners, our volunteers allow us to work with horses so that we can work with our military personnel," the minister said.

Klymenko said ten adaptive sports centers have also been opened to rehabilitate veterans, and the appropriate equipment is being delivered there together with partners.
