Energy system manages to avoid blackout due to Russian attack - First Dpty Head of Rada Energy Committee

The Integrated Power System of Ukraine has maintained its integrity after a massive attack by the Russian Federation despite significant damage to some energy facilities, said First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Oleksiy Kucherenko.

"There was very unpleasant damage to facilities that could have caused a blackout. This did not happen - the country's power system has maintained its integrity. The restoration and strengthening of ties is underway," Kucherenko wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.

At the same time, he called on consumers to remain calm and wait for official information from Ukrenergo about the situation in the energy system.

As reported, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo Yuriy Boiko explained the emergency power outages across the country as both preventive measures to maintain the balance of the energy system and damage to energy equipment in a number of regions. At the same time, he indicated that during the attack there were restrictions on the output of power from power plants, including nuclear ones.
