Kyiv HPP damaged as result of Russian attack – Bukvy
On the morning of August 26, one of the energy facilities attacked by the Russian Federation was the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant (HPP), located near Vyshgorod, the Bukvy publication reports with reference to its own sources.
"The scale of the destruction remains unknown… There is no talk of a dam break. It is currently unknown whether there were victims or fatalities at this facility," the publication writes, supplementing the material with a video showing a fire and destruction allegedly at the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant.
A similar video is actively distributed by Telegram channels, in particular Joker and Lachen writes.
For his part, director of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko wrote on his Telegram that the situation at the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant does not pose a threat, although he did not specify information about possible destruction.
"There are no threats to the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant dam. It is impossible to destroy it with missiles. It is not worth comparing with Kherson region - there was an explosion from the inside. The Russians are using this topic as an information source to whip up panic - nothing more," his message says.
The operator of the hydroelectric power plants and pumped storage power plants - PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo has not yet commented on the information.
