President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Order of the Golden Star and certificates for apartments to the relatives of servicemen who were awarded the title Hero of Ukraine posthumously.

"Today is the day when Ukraine especially honors the memory of all our fallen soldiers. This battle has been going on for more than 10 years for the sake of the Ukrainian state and independence. A battle of varying scale and intensity," Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that the battle from "the very first days decides the fate of Ukraine and determines whether the Ukrainian people should exist."

According to the head of state, everyone should be grateful to those who made a choice in favor of Ukraine and national dignity.

"I am sure we will stand up in this war – the Ukrainian state, the Ukrainian people. We will defend our independence, and our land, and the right to an independent national life for Ukrainians. So that our children and grandchildren and their children and grandchildren can live in safety on their land and according to their own rules – according to the Ukrainian character, which inspires the whole world very much and deserves to express themselves fully in a truly peaceful and free life," Zelenskyy stressed.

The President added that this would the best and most worthy commemoration of all Ukrainians whose lives were cut short on the battlefield.
