Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof on Monday, September 2, made his first visit to Ukraine as Prime Minister and confirmed his conviction of continuing to support Ukraine.

“We must do everything possible to help Ukraine keep going. On the front lines, but also in people’s daily lives. That’s why the Netherlands is providing a substantial new support package worth over EUR 200 million. The package is focused mainly on protecting and repairing the energy infrastructure and includes additional funding for humanitarian assistance,” he said on X.

The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine can count on the continued support and participation of the Netherlands.

“That was my message to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy today in Zaporizhia. It is incredible to see how Ukrainians are carrying on with their lives and keeping their country going, in a city just a few dozen kilometres from the front,” he said.

Schoof also indicated that he visited the school early in the morning and attended a meeting dedicated to the opening of the school year.

“It’s hard to imagine how the children and teachers cope with the constant threat of bombs and drones. This afternoon I talked to a number of veterans about their experiences in the war and the importance of mental health support,” he added.
