Zelenskyy about Putin's possible visit to G20 Summit in Brazil: Law will have to be destroyed for this
Brazil, as a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), will have to ignore the rule of law for Vladimir Putin to arrive there to attend the G20 Summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the international conference United for Justice on the topic of bringing Russia to justice for shelling Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, he said that there are countries in the world that have ratified the Rome Statute, and there are states that are not signatories to the Rome Statute, but are global players on the world stage.
"The G20 Summit is coming up in a few months. [...] We heard from Brazil that they plan to invite Putin. But to make it happen, they will have to circumvent the law, the right to destroy and ignore the Rome Statute again. Shouldn't there be accountability for that?" Zelenskyy said.
