Ukrainian Defense Forces destroy enemy arsenal and base in Russia where North Korean shells delivered - Defense Express
On September 21, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched two long-range strikes against enemy arsenals in Tver region and Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation, which resulted in their detonation and destruction, Defense Express reports.
The targets of the strikes were the 23rd arsenal of the GRAU (Main Missile and Artillery Directorate) of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation near the village of Oktyabrsky in Tver region and the 719th artillery ammunition base near Tikhoretsk in Krasnodar region, where North Korean shells were delivered.
The 23rd arsenal of the GRAU of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian federation is located only 16 km south of the already destroyed 107th arsenal near the city of Toropets, which was attacked a few days ago, on September 18, Defense Express notes.
The range of this strike from the border with Ukraine was about 450 km.
The 23rd arsenal is one of seven known arsenals of the GRAU in the conditional 750-km zone from Ukraine.
The nomenclature of ammunition that was stored there on a total area of 2.6 km² is still unknown. But this arsenal is unlikely to exist anymore. In particular, the NASA Fire Information for Resource Management System shows a large-scale fire that engulfed it.
This night, the 719th artillery ammunition base near Tikhoretsk in Krasnodar region was destroyed. This is, compared to the 23rd GRAU arsenal, a small ammunition storage base with a total area of 1 km², especially since it stored not only ammunition, but also artillery systems. It is about 300 km from the current front line.
At the same time, given its location, this base clearly plays a huge role for the southern and eastern enemy groups because current satellite images show an increase in ammunition shelters in the same area between 2022 and 2024.
That is, the concentration of ammunition at this facility could be much higher and go beyond any norms. Moreover, it was to this base that some of the artillery ammunition from North Korea was transported, Defense Express notes. Their route in January 2024 was investigated by the Frontelligence Insight's OSINT group. It was the 719th base in the Tikhoretsk area, along with a warehouse near the village of Yegorlitskoye in Rostov region and Mozdok in North Ossetia, that were their storage location.
