Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began his visit to the USA with a visit to the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, which produces components for artillery and mortar shells, the website of the head of state reports.

As reported, the plant’s capacity is fully loaded to meet Ukraine’s needs, in particular, for the production of 155 mm shells, which has been significantly increased over the course of the year.

Zelenskyy familiarized himself with the production cycle and talked with the management and employees of the enterprise.

During the meeting, the president spoke about the situation on the battlefield and noted Ukraine’s need for uninterrupted and timely delivery of the announced defense support packages.

"It is an honor for us to begin our visit to the United States from Scranton, from this plant, from Pennsylvania. We are very happy to have such partners. Of course, we understand that the United States has helped us from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion. And we count on further support. I thank President Biden, the U.S. Congress and all the workers of such plants," Zelenskyy said.

Among the main topics of discussion was the importance of starting joint production of weapons on the territory of Ukraine, as well as the possibility of American investments in the Ukrainian defense industry.

The President also noted that this and other American plants have already increased production several times and will continue to increase capacity.

"There are 400 people working here. I really wanted to come here and thank you. Some 400 people saved millions of Ukrainians. On behalf of myself and all our people, I am very grateful. You helped us withstand Putin's invasion," the President said, addressing the plant workers.
