In Sumy region, Zelenskyy meets with soldiers fighting in Kursk
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the command post of the 82nd separate airborne assault Bukovyna brigade in Sumy region, which carries out combat missions as part of the operation in Kursk region.
"Today I started my trip to Sumy region with a meeting with our soldiers who are fighting in Kursk region, defending our border regions and the entire state. The 82nd brigade. I listened to the commander's report, noted our fighters," Zelenskyy said in Telegram channel on Friday.
"Kursk operation greatly helped motivate those who give us arms support packages abroad. Therefore, this was a new wave, it was critical, and you probably do not even fully imagine how much you helped for this decision," the presidential press service said, citing Zelenskyy.
The presidential press service also said the president heard a report from the brigade commander, Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Voloshyn, on the operational situation in the brigade's area of responsibility, the performance of a combat mission, and interaction with related units. He also reported on the brigade's experience in using electronic warfare systems, reconnaissance and FPV drones, and in the fight against Russian drones. Separately, they discussed providing the brigade with equipment and ammunition, staffing, and training.
Zelenskyy awarded state awards to the soldiers of the units participating in the operation in Kursk region. "I would like to personally thank you for Kursk operation; to all the commanders, sergeants, all the soldiers, your brothers-in-arms, convey my gratitude. During a long war, it is necessary not only to motivate personnel. It is necessary to motivate the whole world and convince that Ukrainians can be stronger than the enemy," the head of state said.
