Cherkasy region receives two evacuation trains from Donetsk region over past week

Cherkasy region has received two evacuation trains from Donetsk region in the last week alone.

“Over the past week, two evacuation trains arrived in Cherkasy region,” the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) reported on Facebook on Monday.

The latest train brought 58 people, including 11 children, who were met by rescuers, community representatives and volunteers of the Cherkasy regional organization of the URCS. At the station, temporary rest areas were set up for the evacuees, where people were offered tea, coffee, food and essential items.

Volunteers from the rapid response teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross were helping elderly people and women with children get off the train and carrying their belongings.

Specialists from the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support department of the Ukrainian Red Cross helped new arrivals adapt to new conditions, provided first psychological aid to those who had experienced a stressful situation and were overcome by fear of the unknown.

Volunteers and specialists of the URCS are also planning within the framework of the project "Reboot, new opportunities" to go to places of compact residence of internally displaced persons to help them integrate into the life of communities as much as possible. As reported, the goal of the URCS project is to help improving qualifications or obtaining new professions for further independent employment.
