Fifty-one UAVs out of 136 shot down, 60 lost
On Wednesday night, as a result of an anti-aircraft battle in Ukraine, 51 enemy UAVs out of 136 launched by the Russian Federation were shot down, about 60 drones were lost due to electronic warfare countermeasures, 20 are still in the airspace, the Air Force reported on its Telegram channel.
As noted, on the night of October 16, the enemy struck Donetsk region with an S-300/400 anti-aircraft guided missile from temporarily occupied Donetsk region, X-59 guided air missile at Chernihiv region from the airspace of Kursk region, as well as 136 strike UAVs (launch areas: Kursk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk - Russian Federation).
Anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.
"As of 07:00, as a result of anti-aircraft combat, 51 enemy UAVs were shot down in Sumy, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Ternopil, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions. As a result of active counteraction by electronic warfare, 60 Russian drones were locally lost in different regions of Ukraine, information is being clarified. More than 20 UAVs are in the airspace of Ukraine. Combat operations continue!" the report says.
It is also reported that two enemy drones returned back in the direction of the Russian Federation.
