Kostin announces resignation from Prosecutor General position
Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin has announced that he is resigning from his post because he bears political responsibility for the situation with the false disabilities of prosecutors.
"I consider the position of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to be absolutely correct regarding the fact that not only should all unlawful decisions on granting disabilities, corresponding pension and other payments be cancelled, there should be not only clear legislative and organizational changes, but also personal responsibility. There is political responsibility among them," Kostin said in a message on the Telegram channel on Tuesday.
He added: "I am grateful to the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their trust. But in this situation, I consider it right to announce my dismissal from the post of the Prosecutor General."
According to Kostin, the Ukrainian president held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on Tuesday "on the obviously immoral situation with the fake disability statuses of government officials."
"Currently, checks are ongoing at all levels of the state, criminal proceedings are being investigated. Many shameful facts of abuse have been established in the system of prosecutorial bodies of Ukraine," he noted.
