Zelenskyy: Ukraine will work with any US president regardless of election results
Ukraine is ready to continue working with any president the U.S. people choose, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with Northern European media in response to a question about expectations from the results of the U.S. elections.
"Ukraine will work, as I think the whole world will, with any president that the people of the United States elect. Of course, we hope that the U.S. policy will not change and that they will continue to support us. Because when we talk about U.S. policy, it is not only the White House. It is the Congress, it is the Senate, it is the bipartisan support that we had - it is many different voices. This is good," Zelenskyy explained.
He recalled that throughout the entire period of Russian aggression against Ukraine, U.S. policy has remained largely unchanged, and Ukraine has had the support of both Republicans and Democrats, and the general public in the U.S., since the American people understand that Ukrainians are fighting not only for themselves, but also for the common values of democracy and freedom.
"I hope there won't be a complete change, but of course no one knows. Can it be? Yes, it can. Does it depend on us? No, it doesn’t. It depends on the leader that the American people elect," the president emphasized.
He also noted that if U.S. support does indeed decline after the election of a new president, Ukraine will continue to strive for victory, relying on itself and the unity of Europe.
