Ukrainian interior minister: Ready to start cooperation with Swedish partners in unmanned aviation
Ukraine and Sweden will join forces in the issue of protecting critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, and are also ready to cooperate in the field of unmanned aviation, notes the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.
At a joint briefing with Swedish Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin in Kyiv on Tuesday, Klymenko said that Ukraine and Sweden have ongoing cooperation in the area of mine clearance. "We greatly appreciate the contribution to strengthening the capabilities of our pyrotechnicians," the minister added.
According to him, the State Emergency Service and the National Police are interacting with counterparties subordinate to the Swedish Ministry of Defense – the Swedish Emergency Management Agency and the Swedish Coast Guard.
"Strengthening our capabilities to protect critical infrastructure facilities is another subject of negotiations. The dynamics of enemy shelling has increased fourfold compared to 2022. The occupiers are using drone terror tactics aimed at civilian and critical infrastructure of Ukraine," the minister emphasized.
Klymenko noted that with the onset of cold weather, the enemy's efforts are focused on destroying and damaging energy infrastructure. "That is why increasing the means of detecting and neutralizing air targets is our priority," he said.
Also, according to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ukraine is interested in Sweden's experience in approaches to the development of civil defense structures, and Ukrainian specialists from the Ministry of Internal Affairs units are ready to share the knowledge and skills they received during the full-scale invasion.
"We are also ready to begin cooperation with Swedish partners in the field of unmanned aviation," the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
