Support for Ukraine doesn't depend on long or short war

The number of countries that want peace does not depend on the duration of war, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy told a press conference on the results of the European Political Community Summit in Budapest.

"This sounds illogically. This does not depend on a long or a short war. The number of countries that want peace, the countries that from day one recognized international law, respected human rights – this number of countries does not increase or decrease, this number of countries just exists. Therefore, your country either respect or disrespects this. Your leader either observes international law and UN Charter or not. He is either a democrat or an autocrat, and that's all," he told reporters.

The head of state underlined that the number of countries that provide Ukraine with support has increased.

"Has the number of countries supporting Ukraine increased? Yes, it did. But these are different things. Supporting Ukraine is helping it to overcome the evil, and the evil here is definitely Russia. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine is the victim. And it is impossible to interpret this in a different way. […] And we can see how many countries support us – we had a Peace Summit with more than 100 countries and institutions. That's the answer. Quite a large number of countries voted for a UN resolution against Russian aggression, in support of Ukraine – more than 140. And that is the number of countries that support Ukraine, oppose Russian aggression, recognize the law, territorial integrity and sovereignty of any independent state," Zelenskyy said.
