Ukraine to modernize 800 school kitchens, create 12 factory-kitchens in 2025-2027 – PM
Ukraine plans to modernize more than 800 school kitchens and create twelve factory-kitchens in 2025-2027, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said Tuesday.
"Have ambitious plans for the future. In 2025-2027, we aim to modernize more than 800 school kitchens and twelve factory-kitchens that will deliver food to schools and kindergartens. A pilot project of such a kitchen has already been implemented in Bucha, Kyiv region," he said at the European Regional School Meals Summit in Kyiv.
Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovy, for his part, said that modernization is carried out not only in the school kitchens, but also in the school canteens, where children eat.
As reported, the school meal reform was launched in Ukraine from January 1, 2022. Schools began to introduce menus developed by chef Yevhen Klopotenko, a collection of 600 recommended recipes for feeding children in educational institutions was published, developed in support of the strategy of the school meals reform.
In October 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Strategy for Reforming the School Nutrition System for 2023-2027.
In 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 1.5 billion for overhauls of 173 school canteens in 23 regions.
