Kondratiuk asks Croatian parliament to respond to DPRK involvement into war with Ukraine on Russia's side
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk asked the chairman and deputies of the Croatian parliament to respond to the entry of the DPRK into the war with Ukraine on the side of Russia.
"On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada, I asked the chairman and deputies of the Croatian Sabor [parliament] to respond to the actual entry of North Korea into the war with Ukraine on the side of Putin's Russia. This is a serious escalation and a new page of instability in the world – a new reality in which an axis of evil is being formed: Russia, Iran, North Korea," Kondratiuk said on Facebook after a meeting with Speaker of the Croatian Sabor Gordan Jandroković in Zagreb on Wednesday.
According to Kondratiuk, this is why Ukraine today needs more and more support – in particular, a clear invitation to NATO membership, as the only reliable guarantee of security and the implementation of the first point of the Victory Plan.
"We also expect that Croatia will join the NATO mission to support Ukraine [NSATU - NATO Security Assistance and Training to Ukraine]," the deputy chairman said.
Kondratiuk also said she discussed with Jandroković the protection of the rights of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and asked him and the Sabor to adopt a corresponding resolution. According to Kondratiuk, the speaker assured that the text of such a document will be prepared in the near future. The deputy chairman said that for most Croats, news from Ukraine brings them back to their memories and therefore they sincerely sympathize with Ukraine, which is going through a test of the war for independence, just like Croatia did in its time.
"The Croatian people are and will be next to the Ukrainian people until Ukraine defeats the enemy in this difficult war. Croatia knows what this is. The Croatian authorities are absolutely Ukraine-centric," Kondratiuk said, citing Jandroković.
She said Croatia has provided Ukraine with military, humanitarian and financial support worth almost EUR 300 million since 2022.
"The exchange of experience in European integration is especially valuable to us. As well as expertise, assistance with special equipment and training in humanitarian demining. Croatia, which is still demining its territories, has allocated almost $11 million for this area. We expect that this assistance will continue," Kondratiuk said.
The Deputy Chairman is on a visit to Croatia.
