Zelenskyy suggests war could end faster under Trump administration

Constructive interaction has developed between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, the head of the Ukrainian state believes that under the Trump administration, the war could end faster.

"He [Trump] heard the basis on which we stand. I have not heard anything against our position," Zelenskyy said during an interview with Suspilne on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian Radio.

At the same time, when asked whether Trump had demanded that Ukraine participate in negotiations with Russia, the president replied: "We are an independent country. And during this war, we – both our people and I personally in negotiations with the United States, and with Trump, and with Biden, and with European leaders – proved that the rhetoric of 'sit down and listen' does not work with us."

According to Zelenskyy, under the Trump administration "the war will end faster."

"A just peace is crucial to us, so that there is no feeling that we have lost the best because of the injustice that was imposed on you. The war will end, but there is no exact date. Of course, with the policy of this team, which will now lead the White House, the war will end faster. This is their approach, their promise to their society, and for them this is also critical," Zelenskyy said.
