Ukraine confirms that there are no obstacles to carrying out search and exhumation work on its territory, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said after a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Sybiha.

"Ukraine confirms that there are no obstacles for Polish state institutions and individuals, in cooperation with relevant Ukrainian institutions, to carry out search and exhumation work on the territory of Ukraine in accordance with Ukrainian legislation and declares its readiness to positively consider applications on these issues," Sikorski said at a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart in Warsaw.

Separately, Sikorski pointed out that Poland has been supporting its eastern neighbor since the very beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, providing military, economic, financial, humanitarian assistance and support to refugees.

"According to our statistics, Poland has spent more money on this assistance to Ukraine in proportion to GDP than any other country. The Republic supports Ukraine with its resources and the hearts of our citizens. And it will continue to do so," he said.

In turn, Sybiha also said that he and Sikorski discussed "difficult issues of the historical past" and stressed that Ukrainians, like Poles, are interested in ensuring that there is no misunderstanding between the countries.

"Every family has the right to honor the memory of their ancestors with dignity, and we are currently working within the framework of a joint Ukrainian-Polish working group under the auspices of the Ministries of Culture of both countries on practical mechanisms for conducting search and exhumation work. We are on the right track, I believe that we have moved forward, and this is also properly enshrined in our joint declaration," the Foreign Minister stressed.
