Kyiv City Council to allocate another UAH 740 mln to help army at next session – Klitschko
Kyiv has already allocated more than UAH 9 billion from the city budget to support the military in 2024, the capital's mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
"At the next session, there is still an opportunity to allocate UAH 740 million this year. That is, in total, it will be almost UAH 10 billion (last year it was UAH 7.5 billion). This includes money for the purchase of necessary equipment by units – drones, electronic warfare systems, cars, etc. And funds, in particular, for payments to the military and their families, housing, equipment for engineering structures, rehabilitation," Klitschko said in Telegram channel.
He said the city target program "Defender of Kyiv" is only one of the programs through which the capital helps the military. It is financed in two directions, the balance of funds from the previous year, that is, unused last year. And the second is the over fulfillment of the budget.
"We will have these figures at the beginning and during the year. Funds are directed from them to this program. Also, assistance to the military and their families is financed from social support programs, housing, medical and others," the mayor said.
As for the Defender of Kyiv program, UAH 2.8 billion will be provisionally allocated for 2025. It will be filled with funds during the first quarter of 2025. Klitschko also recalled that almost three times less was provisionally provided for in this program for 2024.
"There is no need to speculate on the topic of assistance! Kyiv helps the military the most and will continue to do so next year. The overall support for defenders and their families will be no less than this year," Klitschko said.
