Defense and Health Ministries launch military medical commission reform, expanding medical examinations to civilian institutions
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, along with the Ministry of Health, have launched a reform of military medical commissions, allowing medical examinations to be carried out in any civilian healthcare institution of one's choice, the press service of the Defense Ministry said.
"There is no longer a need to go to the military medical commissions, a medical examination can be carried out in a convenient place. The reform provides that medical examinations will be carried out by civilian doctors who will enter conclusions directly into the Electronic Health System. Information from the Electronic Health System will be automatically sent to the electronic system of the Ministry of Defense in a matter of minutes. At the same time, military medical commissions will receive only medical data without personal identification. This guarantees objectivity and impartiality when making conclusions about fitness for service," the ministry said on the Telegram channel.
At the same time, each stage of the process will have a digital trace – the conclusions of doctors and the military medical commissions will be recorded using electronic signatures and will be stored in the Oberih registry. This approach will allow promptly checking the work of medical institutions in case of doubts about the results of medical examinations.
"We are working to ensure that public services for conscripts and our defenders are convenient, transparent and free of unnecessary bureaucracy. The military medical commission reform is another important step along this path," Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said.
