Poroshenko discusses Russian aggression, establishment of just peace in Ukraine with Trump's adviser Waltz in USA
MP, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko, while in Washington at the Forum of the International Democracy Union, met with candidate for the post of U.S. National Security Advisor, Congressman Michael Waltz, the website of the political force reports.
"I received assurances of the readiness of the new American Administration to demonstrate leadership in the matter of repelling Russian aggression and establishing a just peace in Ukraine. It is pleasant that Donald Trump's team remembers well our cooperation with him during my presidency. Michael Waltz noted the fact that Ukraine was provided with the first lethal weapon during Trump's term," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page.
"I am sure that Putin can be stopped precisely thanks to the principle of 'peace through strength.' We agreed to maintain dialogue," Petro Poroshenko writes.
Republican Congressman Michael Waltz is a National Guard colonel who chairs the House Armed Services Committee subcommittee that oversees military logistics and serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. After his election victory, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Waltz to be his National Security Advisor.
As reported earlier, Poroshenko met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Energy Affairs and former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt in Washington and discussed the urgent energy needs of our country. The leader of European Solidarity also met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Chris Smith.
