Ukrainian MP, leader of European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko, during his visit to Washington, in an interview with Voice of America, told about the security guarantees that Ukraine needs, the European Solidarity said on its website.

“We can stop the war in 24 hours, as President Trump promised, and without a single shot or a dollar spent. We need just one signature. We neither need 32 security guarantees, nor 32 versions of the Budapest Memorandum, nor 32 guarantees for the supply of weapons. We need just one signature for one treaty — the Washington Treaty. Inviting Ukraine to join NATO will be a powerful demonstration to Putin that we are not afraid of his blackmail. We are decisive enough, and we want to have sustainable security on the continent,” Poroshenko believes.

Poroshenko explained that signing the Washington Treaty does not mean Ukraine's membership in NATO from January 20.

He proposed the "Poroshenko Plan": within one year, partners guarantee that Ukraine will get a full [NATO] membership if it meets specific criteria and fulfills certain conditions. During that year, while we are not in NATO, we will receive the same security guarantees as Finland and Sweden before their full NATO membership. During that year, I also suggest having peacekeepers under the mandate of the United Nations Security Council to guarantee a ceasefire.

Poroshenko is convinced that now the world needs a new form of security, because with aggression against Ukraine, Putin destroyed the post-war security system based on the UN Security Council, destroyed international law, which existed for the last 70-80 years after World War II.

"Putin's aggression against Ukraine is not only a Ukrainian-Russian war. Forty percent of the Russian missiles that attack Ukraine are of Korean origin. Seventy percent of the attack drones that Russia uses against civilian targets in Ukraine are of Iranian origin - manufactured in Iran or under Iranian licenses. Tens of thousands of Koreans are fighting against Ukraine as part of the Russian army. This is not only because Russia does not have enough soldiers," Poroshenko warns.

"I will say an unpopular thing. If 2,000 Shaheds attack Poland, the Baltic States or Northern Europe every month, there will be no effective air defense against this. Therefore, it would be more effective and cheaper to stop Putin in Ukraine," Poroshenko noted.
