Three Ukrainian servicemen die as result of poisoning with chemical substances used by Russia at front
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale military aggression against Ukraine, three Ukrainian servicemen have died as a result of poisoning with chemical substances used by the Russians, Head of the Department of environmental safety and civil defense of the Department of radiation, chemical, biological defense of the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Artem Vlasiuk said.
"Regarding the deceased servicemen, we now have, unfortunately, three fatal cases," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
Vlasiuk said he would not disclose the names of the servicemen and units for security reasons.
"In three cases, we have doctors' conclusions stating death as a result of acute poisoning with an unknown chemical substance," Vlasiuk said.
He said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 2,000 servicemen with symptoms of poisoning have been sent to medical institutions with varying degrees of poisoning by unknown or known chemical substances, including irritating toxic substances. The Armed Forces of Ukraine said Ukrainian soldiers do not use prohibited chemical substances, and Ukraine adheres to international law.
