Kallas: there has to be peace in order to send peacekeepers to Ukraine
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, says that in order to discuss the initiative to send a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine, there must be peace first.
“First, there has to be peace in order to send peacekeepers. And Russia doesn’t want peace. That is very clear. If you look at Lavrov’s [Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov] interview for Tucker Carlson , they haven’t stepped away from their goals. So, we can’t discuss that,” she said on Monday in Brussels before the start of the meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs, answering a question from journalists.
As you know, French President Emmanuel Macron took the initiative to discuss sending a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine. He has already discussed this issue with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, but has not found support.
