Nizhankovychi-Malhowice border crossing to open on Dec 20

The Nizhankovychi-Malhowice border crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border will open on December 20, 2024, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced.

"It will be open for passenger and cargo transportation. Pedestrian crossing will begin once the necessary infrastructure is constructed. Today, an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Poland was approved during a meeting," Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.

According to him, the new crossing will alleviate pressure on existing checkpoints and expand opportunities for Ukrainian exports.

Taras Melnychuk, the Cabinet's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, added on Telegram that the agreement provides for 24/7 international passenger and cargo transportation for vehicles with a permitted total weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, buses, and pedestrian traffic.

"Pedestrian crossing will commence after the necessary infrastructure is built. Border control for the aforementioned traffic will take place at facilities located on Polish territory," he said.
