Erdogan, Fico call for just and lasting peace in Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico agreed on Monday during talks on the need to establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, Erdogan said at a press conference following the meeting.
"Of course, we discussed the war in Ukraine, which is now affecting all of Europe. (...) Before the conflict worsens, it is necessary to establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," Erdogan said.
In addition, Erdogan announced his intention to maintain contacts with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to discuss the war in Ukraine and its end.
"Trump has said before that he will end the Russia-Ukraine war. We in Turkey are ready to do our part to end the war. I plan to raise this issue in my discussions with Trump," Erdogan said.
