Trump says new sanctions may be imposed on Russia if Putin refuses to negotiate
U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that he would consider imposing additional sanctions on Russia if Vladimir Putin does not sit down at the negotiating table regarding the war in Ukraine, CNN reports.
Asked whether he would put additional sanctions on Russia if Putin fails to come to the negotiating table, Trump said, “Sounds likely.”
“We’re talking to Zelensky. We‘re going to be talking with President Putin very soon, and we’ll see what –— how it all happens,” Trump noted.
The ezine also noted that Trump would “look into” whether the U.S. would be sending additional weapons to Ukraine.
Trump also confirmed he discussed the war during a recent call with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
