Ukrainian MFA: Preparations for General Kellogg's visit to Kyiv continuing, we also expect other contacts with new US administration

Preparations for the visit of the Special Representative for Ukraine, retired General Keith Kellogg, to Kyiv are continuing, and other contacts with the new U.S. administration are also expected, said Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Heorhiy Tykhyi.

“We are expecting contacts like General Kellogg's visit to Ukraine which remains on the agenda. The preparation continues. As well as other contacts with the new U.S. administration of Donald Trump,” Tykhyi said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.

The spokesperson is convinced that “these contacts will take place soon.” According to him, these negotiations “will determine the views and main parameters of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.”

As reported, General Kellogg postponed his trip to Kyiv and other European capitals until the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.

Later, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Kellogg, who was nominated for the post of special representative for Ukraine in the future presidential administration, postponed his visit to Kyiv for legal, not political reasons.
