Tusk: Neither Minsk-2 nor Budapest should be repeated
Neither the story with Minsk-2 nor the story with Budapest, when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees, should be repeated, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Monday at the end of the informal summit of European leaders in Paris.
"There should be no decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine and no decisions about Europe's security without Europe," TVN24 quotes Tusk as saying. At the same time, the Polish prime minister pointed out that it is difficult to imagine effective security guarantees without the support of the United States.
"In no case should the story with Minsk-2 be repeated, nor the one with Budapest, when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees from Great Britain, France and the United States," Tusk said.
