Grain exports from Odesa ports exceed pre-war levels – Odesa administration
More than 5,000 vessels have passed through the sea corridor to Odes ports since August 2024, and the volume of income from the region's port infrastructure has reached 60% of the all-Ukrainian economy, said the head of Odessa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.
According to him, despite the shelling of port infrastructure, it was possible to increase the volume of grain for export.
"Despite the fact that we are working "on wheels" today, we have increased volumes, which even in terms of grain have become higher than before the large-scale invasion began. And we are really doing this "on wheels": something is being restored, something is being repaired, approaches are changing. I generally want to say that this is crazy. People who carry (products) with their own hands do not load a ship in a day, but in two or three. But we do it. Today we support the entire country economically," Kiper emphasized.
He noted that 60% of all Ukrainian exports go through the ports of Odesa. This stimulates the development of the state, so the regional authorities are constantly working with port infrastructure and increasing its capacity.
In addition, the state official pointed to the growth in the number of international companies that cooperate with the ports of Odesa region.
