Ukraine considers Turkey, Vatican or Switzerland as platforms for negotiations with Russia, USA and EU – Zelenskyy

Turkey, Vatican and Switzerland are considered as platforms for negotiations with Russia, USA and European countries, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump and Trump's conversation with Vladimir Putin.

"I believe this is a positive outcome of our conversation: we are considering the possibility of another meeting with all the teams. We want it to be a high-level meeting with representatives from the United States, Ukraine, Russia, and the other countries mentioned, as well as Great Britain. Such a meeting could take place in Turkey, the Vatican, or Switzerland. We are considering these three venues because all three countries are good options," Zelenskyy said during a briefing on Monday evening.

"I don't want to discuss where it would be more convenient. The question isn't about convenience; it's about who will be able to organize this and achieve the desired results after the meeting. I think we'll have an answer soon," he added.

The President of Ukraine believes that Pope Leo XIV "can really help us." "And this is a very important message that I heard from him during our bilateral meeting, which turned out to be quite productive," Zelenskyy said.

According to him, the parties raised the issue of the return of children and presented a list, as well as discussed a number of other issues. "The Vatican has expressed its readiness to invite and organize an appropriate meeting for all parties involved. Of course, this includes representatives of Europe. We would be very happy to see them. In this format, the Vatican accepts the involvement of the United States, Russia, and Ukraine. We would also like to see European leaders involved, not just representatives from the EU, but also Great Britain," the head of state said.

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine would welcome the possibility of introducing such a format, and that this issue had been raised with Trump and other leaders. "We discussed the possibility of introducing such a format. We need to hold a meeting faster. Additionally, we raised the issue of the Vatican and considered it as one of the options," the president said.
