The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS), with the support of the Austrian Red Cross, is launching a pilot project - a social taxi service in Lviv, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions.

"The service will be available to people who need medical examinations outside the home, have temporary mobility impairments, in particular fractures, or are physically unable to move around the city on their own," said the acting head of the URCS health department, Oleksandr Babenko.

The service includes assistance from volunteers in transporting a person from home to a car (ambulance) using a wheelchair or stretcher, escorting them to a medical facility for scheduled examinations or procedures, and returning home after the visit.

"At the first stage, the service will be available to those in the Home Care program - lonely elderly people and people with disabilities," the URCS reported on Facebook on Tuesday.

After analyzing the first results of the project and the work of the teams, it is planned to expand the service to other regions of Ukraine.
