Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has thanked US senators for introducing a bipartisan Senate resolution condemning Russia's abduction, forced displacement of Ukrainian children

"I am grateful to Chuck Grassley and Amy Klobuchar for introducing a bipartisan Senate resolution condemning Russia's abduction, forced displacement, and facilitation of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children," he wrote on X.

Sybiha stressed the importance of the bill's emphasis on the heightened risks to children, such as human trafficking, exploitation, child labor, sexual violence, hunger, trauma, deprivation of education, and even death as a result of Russia's invasion, as well as the need for a peaceful and just end to the war.

"This also requires the return of all Ukrainian children abducted by Russia before a peace agreement is reached. Thank you for supporting Ukraine and our children. Justice and responsibility must prevail," the minister said.

As reported, a group of senators from both parties introduced a draft resolution, which emphasizes: a peace agreement with Russia is unacceptable if all children deported from Ukraine are not returned. The document was prepared by Republican Senator Chuck Grassley and Democrat Amy Klobuchar. Their initiative was also supported by Roger Wicker, Joni Ernst, Rick Scott, Dick Durbin and John Fetterman.

The text of the resolution states that the forced removal of Ukrainian children and attempts to Russify them is not just a crime - it is an attempt to destroy Ukrainian national identity.
