Rubio's congratulations on Russian Day are support for aggression – MP Friz

Member of Parliament and a member of its Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Iryna Friz (European Solidarity faction) has said she considers US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's congratulations to Russia on its national day as his support for Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

"US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Russians on Russia Day. And he did it against the backdrop of destroyed Ukrainian cities, thousands of dead, millions of broken destinies. Congratulating the aggressor is not diplomacy. It is support for aggression and imperial ambitions. It is an attempt to 'find peace' at a time when Russia continues to kill civilians every day and destroy infrastructure. When missiles are flying at Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson and hundreds of other Ukrainian cities. When drones are dropping deadly charges on residential areas, maternity hospitals, hospitals, schools. When the Kremlin is waging war not only against Ukraine but against everyone who has the strength of spirit to defend freedom and dignity," Friz told the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Thursday.

According to the MP, Rubio's congratulations are one of the most destructive positions, "which is not only publicly aimed at condoning the Kremlin's aggression, but also indicates the loss of US leadership among the countries of the free world."

"Supporting Russia today is like applauding Hitler in 1942. Back then, many people wanted an 'armistice.' But it ended with Nuremberg," Friz said.
