Zelenskyy: Sanctions against Russian banks, financial sector needed, USA, EU and G7 can ensure this
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy notes the importance of strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation and combating schemes to circumvent sanctions in view of the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine.
“This night, our air defense soldiers destroyed 167 air targets with which Russia attacked Ukraine… In total, there were 183 strike drones and 11 missiles of various types… And this is just one night. This month, Russia has already used about 2,800 strike drones, almost 3,000 guided aerial bombs and 140 missiles of various types against Ukraine. Moscow has been doing this for the fourth year and is constantly increasing the number of strikes. That is why it is so important that all decisions are made that will strengthen sanctions against Russia in the coming weeks,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram on Sunday.
He noted that “price caps are needed that will stop the war,” and that Ukraine’s partner countries, in particular the G7 countries, are able to provide this. “We need sanctions against Russian banks and the financial sector, which will be truly painful. We also need to fight schemes to circumvent sanctions. America, the European Union, and the G7 countries can ensure this,” Zelenskyy added.
