Ukrainian Red Cross Society helps eliminate consequences of Russian attack on Cherkasy region
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) is helping to eliminate the consequences of a large-scale Russian attack in the city of Smila, Cherkasy region, where six local residents were injured and multi-storey residential buildings were damaged
"More than 50 employees and volunteers of the URCS in Cherkasy region were involved in the response, including emergency response specialists, a rapid response team, as well as the Zvenyhorod and Cherkasy city organizations of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society," the URCS reported on Facebook on Sunday.
A URCS point has been set up where first aid and psychological assistance is provided to the victims. As a result of the emergency, a large number of people are in a state of acute stress, and psychosocial support specialists are providing them with all the necessary support. In the tent you can also drink water, tea or coffee, and charge your mobile phones.
Humanitarian aid is being distributed on site in the form of emergency kits, folding beds, as well as OSB boards, film, and beams for temporary repairs of houses. Volunteers of the rapid response unit, if necessary, help to seal the windows in damaged apartments.
Together with representatives of the regional military administration and local authorities, the URCS team is participating in a house-to-house tour of damaged houses in order to collect the needs of the population.
As reported, as a result of a large-scale night attack in the city of Smila, six people were injured, including one child, three nine-story buildings were damaged, and the local college of the National University of Food Technologies was significantly damaged.
