USA stops supplying only some types of weapons to Ukraine, will continue others, incl missiles for air defense – State Dept

The United States will not stop supplying weapons and missiles for air defense systems to Ukraine, and the announcement of the suspension of supplies concerns only certain items, the Kyiv Post reported on Thursday, citing US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce.

“Our commitment hasn’t changed,” State Dept says when pressed by Kyiv Post’s correspondent on US weakening Ukraine’s defensive capabilities despite Trump’s stated goal to “end the killing” in Ukraine.

“This is not a cessation of us assisting Ukraine... This is one aspect, one situation, one event that has been changed,” she said without giving any details.

Bruce claimed that the move was “not going to be a factor” in Russian behavior on the battlefield because “we haven’t paused sending weapons to Ukraine.”

“President [Trump] has also indicated his remaining commitment regarding Patriot missiles,” she said.

As reported, US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby, after reviewing the Pentagon's ammunition stockpiles, announced the suspension of supplies to Ukraine of Patriot air defense missiles, precision artillery shells, drones and missiles for F-16 fighters due to concerns that US weapons stocks had become too low. He later stressed that the Pentagon continues to provide the President with credible options for continuing military assistance to Ukraine.
