President signs new package of sanctions against Russian financial schemes

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed another package of anti-Russian sanctions. He announced this in a video address on Sunday, July 6.

"I have just signed a new package of sanctions - and these are special sanctions that hit many Russian financial schemes, including cryptocurrency ones. Sanctions at the request of the National Bank of Ukraine. This is both synchronization with our partners and our initiative. Just through one single company, now included in the sanctions list, and only since the beginning of this year, that is, prior to the sanctions being imposed, the Russians funneled several billion dollars, primarily for the needs of their military-industrial complex," the president said.

He noted that all schemes will be stopped.

"Now, when the usual financial paths for Russia are blocked in many places, they are switching to cryptocurrency payments. In total, the package today includes sanctions against 60 legal entities, and for each we will work with our partners to combine sanctions - ours and European ones, ours and other significant jurisdictions of the world. The package also includes 73 individuals, all of whom are citizens of Russia. We will also synchronize sanctions for them," he added.

The President explained that the sanctions rules differ around the world, but currently the goal is common to all - to force Russia to end the war and limit its potential as much as possible.

"Sanctions are already depriving Russia of its future and should significantly complicate the everyday life of the Russian system. Next week, we are also preparing new decisions, ours, Ukrainian ones, on synchronizing the sanctions of the European Union - all European packages against Russia should be implemented in Ukrainian jurisdiction. Just like our, Ukrainian sanctions in the European Union," he summed up.
